The Silence in our Churches is Hurting Women
Each week, a woman sit in your sanctuary - bruised in spirit, and perhaps, in body - wondering if God sees her....if He hears her.
Will YOUR church be the answer to her prayer?
👉 Become a Safer Church PartnerDomestic Abuse isn't "out there"
It is in our churches - in Christian marriages - to women you know and see each week.
Do you know what to look for, what to say or how to help?
When a church doesn’t understand abuse, it can harm the women it is called to protect.

The Good News...
You Don't Need a Whole New Program
just a willingness to take small steps to create change
It isn't about being perfect.
It is about being prepared.
When your church says yes, you won't be left wondering what to do. We will provide the guidance, resources, and encouragement you need to:
- Raise awareness with flyers (that we can send you for free) and announcements (with prompts and graphics that we'll provide you)
- Equip leadership and your community to learn how to recognize and respond to abuse
- Normalize conversations about safety and healing through sharing about domestic abuse/healthy relationships from the pulpit
It is simple. It is structured. It will make a real difference.

Become a Safer Church Partner!
With one action step a month, your church will become a place of refuge for those experiencing domestic abuse.
We are asking each Safer Church Partner to designate a Safer Church Advocate responsible for receiving and implementing the monthly action steps.
If you don't have one yet, that is ok! Just make sure to have your designated Advocate sign up soon!

Oasis Bible Study Participant
Testimonial on the impact of the Oasis Bible Study
So many friends, family members, and faith leaders let her down with hurtful responses to her husband's abuse. This brought her to the hard decision of leaving her church due to an unsupportive pastor, which ultimately lead her to a pastor that understood domestic abuse and told her about the Oasis Bible Study.
The truth she found in the Oasis Bible Study resonated with what she knew in her heart about how wrong abuse was in God’s eyes.
She would tell you, “Here’s the book that explains what I am living with.”

Feedback on an elder training led by Diane Schnickels
Living Waters of Hope helped bring a greater awareness and insight into how much domestic abuse affects those, not just in our communities, but churches as well.
From their training, our church leadership team gained important education, ideas and strategies for how to safely love, protect and heal those who've been deeply wounded.
We're a better church because of their ministry.

It is not enough to hope survivors will come forward.
We must actively cultivate the kind of church where they can.
